Several Port employees who are veterans reflected on their service in a video.
On their first day back from the Veterans Day holiday, veterans who work at the Port of Tacoma and The Northwest Seaport Alliance were honored with a recognition event that included a guest speaker and commemorative coins.
Lieutenant Colonel Kevin M. Pelley (Retired) spoke with Port of Tacoma staff at the event. During a distinguished 25-year career in the U.S. Army, he held leadership roles around the world from Kosovo and Iraq to Korea and Afghanistan.
“Veterans Day celebrations like this are critical to maintain that connection we have between our veterans and those we served,” Pelley said.
The event was organized by Alisa Praskovich, Port of Tacoma Chief of Strategic Projects and Commission Relations, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
“Everyone in our society should never forget the sacrifice and commitment and the tireless efforts of veterans that have served in all capacities,” Praskovich said. “We have to keep that as a vital recognition day here at the Port.”
