The Port of Tacoma promoted Martyn Adamson to Chief Information Officer, effective October 1. Adamson has worked in senior management roles since joining the Port in 2003.
“Ports increasingly rely on modern technologies to remain competitive and serve our stakeholders. As CIO, my focus will be to execute IT strategies that ensure the Port of Tacoma and NWSA remain at the forefront of the Port industry,” Adamson said.
Prior to joining the Port, Adamson worked for the U.S. division of an international technology retailer as Vice President of Operations. A native of Scotland, Adamson immigrated to the United States in 1998.
Adamson previously served as the Chair of the AAPA Information Technology Committee, sits on the Advisory Board for the School of Engineering and Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma, and is a certified Project Management Professional. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing from Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland.
“For 22 years, Martyn has been a great asset to the Port of Tacoma, and he will excel in his new role,” said Port of Tacoma Executive Director Eric Johnson. “The future belongs to Ports that thoughtfully embrace technological innovation, and we know we’re in good hands.”
